Gum Disease
Periodontal treatment in Wollongong
Not keeping to a good oral hygiene routine has detrimental impacts to your oral health and overall wellbeing. Bacteria build up in the mouth known as dental plaque can lead to gingivitis which then develops into gum disease if not treated properly.
Periodontal (gum) disease is an inflammatory disease of the supporting structures of the teeth including your gums, periodontal ligaments and part of the jaw bone.
The tissues, bones and ligaments begin to destruct as the bacteria progresses deeper into the small pockets between the gums and eventually it can cause loss of the tooth.
Prevention is better than a cure. Our dentists and the hygienist team will assess your mouth to see if there are any signs of gingivitis or gum disease and treat these issues before they progress. Early diagnosis is best so if you feel you have any symptoms of gum disease, make sure to talk to our friendly team to book in your next gum assessment.
At Ambience Dental we understand that patients may experience feelings of anxiousness when visiting the dentist and we aim to make you feel most at ease. To find out more about the various forms of treatments we offer for anxious patients at our dental clinic in Fairy Meadow, please click here.
